Just a reminder that school finishes for 2017 at 1 pm tomorrow.
What a wonderful last week it has been. The children were all amazing at prize giving and during our picnic day at the Parnell Pools. Congratulations to our prize winners and to those who have been given leadership roles for next year. I know all of Room 14 are going to be great role models for the rest of the school next year.
Today we packed up the class room, moved my resources to Room 10 (where I will be teaching next year), cleaned every surface, removed every staple, made Christmas trees, finished off our Fable books and listened to each others stories. The children were all so fabulous, helping when asked, helping each other and just getting on with the job with no fuss and no bother. I am so glad I said yes to teaching Room 14 when Dave asked me. I am so proud of them all and what they have achieved this year!
Wishing you and your families a happy and safe holiday. See you in 2018.
if you have any glossy magazines you don’t need anymore (small or large is fine) please send them with your child on Monday or Tuesday as we will be using these to make a table top Christmas tree to bring home.
A reminder that we have our Picnic Day at Parnell Pools on Monday. We will be leaving at 9.15am and our ETA back at school is around 2.30pm. Some things to remember:
All children need to have sun screen on (with togs on) before they come to school.
All children must bring sun screen with them (they will have a sun screen buddy during the day to help reapply).
Everyone needs to bring their own brain snack, morning tea, water bottle and also something for a shared class lunch (finger food only thanks). If your child has food allergies, I suggest that they bring their own packed lunch.
A sunhat and two towels are also a must, and because the Parnell Pools are salt water the children might want to bring goggles too.
Please name everything that will be taken to the pools including your shared lunch containers.
please enjoy these photos of our class piece – Kiwiana Pop. Our class art can be viewed along with their individual screen printed bags tomorrow in the School Hall and staff room from 3.15-6.15 pm. The auction starts at 6.30 pm in the staff room. I am so proud of all of the children and how they conducted themselves throughout the whole art process. They made it so enjoyable, smooth going and fun!
This Wednesday is the Art Exhibition!! You can view all of the art from 3.30 – 6.15 pm in the Hall, it is a gold coin donation. The children have worked very hard on their individual pieces of art and the class piece, and I know they will be very happy to show you what they have created.
The auction for the class pieces will start at 6.30 pm in the staffroom, so come along and bring your cash or eftpos card! The children are all very proud of their class piece and someone is going to be the lucky owner on Wednesday.
There will be food to buy and a bar in the staffroom so come along and enjoy the afternoon-evening.
Also please remember to hand in permission slips and pay the $8 for the Picnic Day and return the walkathon forms and money.
Well there were certainly a lot of very tired faces this afternoon, but what a fantastic and busy week it’s been! We hope you enjoyed our assembly today, I thought the children were fabulous, and we had lots of fun putting our item together. Below is the link to the assembly just in case you missed it and the children may want to have a look.
This link has been copied to the blog for parents only viewing. Please do not copy this link or re-post on YouTube or any other public media. This is for the cyber safety of Gladstone children. Thank you.
The screen printing is coming along really well too, thanks to Eleanor, Anne and Teresa who came in this week to help out.
we have a very busy week ahead so a number of reminders are needed.
School Assembly this Friday
It is our turn to perform at School Assembly, so please come along and support your child in their performance. The class have been practising hard at their dance and acting skills. Every child is dressing up in Halloween costume and they can bring these to school in a named bag, starting this Monday. We need old shoe boxes to paint so if you have some you don’t want anymore please bring them in on Monday. Also if anyone has spare black masks that bats could wear that would be great too. Please have your child come early to school on Friday at8.00-8.15 am so we have time to get dressed, calm the nerves and be ready on time.
Athletics Sports Thursday
The middle and senior school will be going over to UNITEC for Athletics Sports this Thursday for the whole day. Your child will need to wear suitable clothing for running in, have a sunhat, be wearing sunscreen and have a water bottle as well as their usual food for the day. Parents are most welcome to come and watch the sports.
Screen Printing All Week
We start screen printing our bags on Monday and we start our class piece for the auction this week – exciting!! If your child still wants to bring in their own pillow case to practise their screen print on they can. I recommend they wear clothes that you don’t mind if ink and paint gets on them or they can bring a big old shirt to wear, and we can keep it at school for when they are doing their art. Parent help– if you have some screen printing experience and would like to help out in the class over the next couple of weeks, please send me an email. A big thank you to those who are already coming in this week!
Swimming starts this week in PE, but for our class it will be next week as our PE day is Thursday and we will be at UNITEC.
Library is on Monday please return any overdue books.
as many of you have seen, the children all wrote and acted out their own advertisements on one aspect of water pollution for GTV. The links for these are below. Please note, these links have been copied to the blog for parents only viewing. Please do not copy this link or re-post on youtube or any other public media. This is for the cyber safety of Gladstone children. Thank you.
well it is the last week of the term, and it has flown by. You may have read in the school blog that this Wednesday the classrooms are open so you can come in and view the work that the children have been doing this term in Topic, of course you can also view any of their work. Room 14 will be open from 3.30 to 5.00 pm. The children have work on a display wall, and they also have produced advertisements which have been played on GTV, these will be played in the classroom for you to view as well. Our topic was investigating water and marine environments, how they are being negatively impacted on, and what we can do to protect them.
We are also having a cultural day on Wednesday, our class will be making dumplings and learning some Maori games.
