During November and December this year we were lucky enough to have musicians from the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra visit Gladstone and perform and discuss music with us.
Katherine Hebley and Andrew Uren performed on the cello and clarinets (E flat, B flat and bass), and Penny, Sarah and Kathryn presented a baroque performance, even teaching us how to dance!
Dear Senior School,
To turn our lovely voices into an awesome performance we need:
1. To learn our words off by heart.
2. Know the songs well.
3. Bring it! – energy, enthusiasm and awesomeness!

Capital E National Theatre for Children
Friday 8 November, 2013, 1.00pm
Great Hall, Auckland Town Hall
Capital E National Theatre for Children and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra transform myth into a legendary performance in this new collaborative work created specifically for young people.
In this story, inspired by Witi Ihimaera’s novel Sky Dancer, a young girl named Skylark becomes embroiled in a prophecy which involves her in an extraordinary journey, a dazzling trip into the past to save our future.
See the maestro’s score come to life and let your imagination take flight. This symphonic work shows off the orchestral sound in all its glory, while puppets, projections and performers all contribute to the epic visual staging.
Sky Dancer is ideal for 5 years and up.

Auditions for Auckland Girls’ Choir
The Auckland Girls’ Choir is having auditions for new members for 2014 on Saturday 19th October 2013. Girls aged 9-16 years who are committed to singing and have accurate pitch with a good vocal range are invited to audition. It is an advantage, but not essential, to be learning the piano or another instrument. The choir rehearses after school on Mondays from 3.45pm to 6.00pm in Remuera. Please contact The Director of Music, Mrs Leonie Lawson on phone: (09) 520 0841 or go to http://www.akgirlschoir.co.nz/ for more information and audition time.
On Wednesday 21st August, the Gladstone Senior Choir will be performing in the Auckland Town Hall at the Kids Sing 2013.
They are working hard to learn their words and notes for the four songs in their programme.
