Gladstone Music 2014

Welcome back to school and a new year!

This year we are very excited to have music lessons for each class for an hour per week for 2 of the 4 terms.

These lessons will be in Room 60, our new Music Room and will involve exposure and exploration of each element ad aspect of music, from active listening to composing. Students will sing and move, play and listen in a wide selection of music styles.

I would like to encourage parents who are professional or semi-professional musicians to get in touch with me if you are interested in contributing your skills in showing our learners live music of a good standard.

My teaching philosophy comes from an upbringing of classical music training, the pedagogical models of Kodaly, Orff and Suzuki, and a desire to ensure learners are exposed to a range of music styles and disciplines.

I will be attending a course in two parts on the Kodaly method and look forward to applying what I learn in the classroom.

Kind regards

Jessica Wells

Yuletide Carols Being Sung by a Choir

Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers,

Viva Voce (my choir) is about to celebrate the arrival of Christmas in the best way we know how – singing about it!

So we’ve put together a varied programme that aims to capture the excitement, nostalgia, warmth and peace of this time of the year, with a line-up that includes:

*traditional ‘candlelit’ carols…

*Christmas choral works…

*popular, seasonal songs…

*in a hall that’s been suitably ‘decked’…

followed by a yummy Yuletide-themed supper.

And we don’t just stand there and sing – it’ll all be presented in our trademark theatrical and light-hearted style.

It’d be great to see you there. Details are:

Where?               Auckland Town Hall, Concert Chamber

 When?                 Sunday 15 December 2013 at 5pm

How much?        $45 (earners), $35 (non-earners), $20 (tertiary students), $10 (children)

How?    It’s easiest and cheapest through me. Just let me know how many and what sort of tickets you need, and I’ll do the rest.

Looking  forward to seeing you there

Jessica Wells
