In 1993, a training orchestra for younger and less experienced players was established. Members of the Sinfonietta consist mainly of primary and intermediate school students aged 9 to 13. The Sinfonietta welcomes applications from musicians with a Grade 3 level or higher ability.
The Sinfonietta provides the basics in ensemble playing led by Music Director Rosalind Mason. The Sinfonietta’s program is less ambitious than that of the AYS, focusing on the development of group playing skills. The group usually has three concerts during the year. Applications to join us are welcome throughout the year.
The Auckland Girls’ Choir is having auditions for new members for 2014 on Saturday 19th October 2013. Girls aged 9-16 years who are committed to singing and have accurate pitch with a good vocal range are invited to audition. It is an advantage, but not essential, to be learning the piano or another instrument. The choir rehearses after school on Mondays from 3.45pm to 6.00pm in Remuera. Please contact The Director of Music, Mrs Leonie Lawson on phone: (09) 520 0841 or go to http://www.akgirlschoir.co.nz/ for more information and audition time.
